1916 - Australian night bombing missions

Australian 101sqdn RFC flying 70 night bombing missions.

The pilot in this photo is my great uncle Walter Preston who served in France as a machine gunner with the AIF before transfereing to the RFC at the end of 1916. This seems a home defence unit in England. By 1917-18 he was flying with 101sqdn RFC flying 70 night bombing missions. He was presented with a DFC by the king of England. The photo is from a book of B&W negatives he sent home to my grandmother that I've had scanned.
